Happy New Year to all of you.

Our first meeting in 2012 is Thursday, January 26.  By popular demand, Jill Love, our City Council Representative will be with us for about 30 minutes.  There is an amazing amount happening in the City and Jill wants to hear our feedback as well as explain what some of this ”tonnage” is all about.

NEW MEETING LOCATION   NEW MEETING LOCATION   NEW MEETING LOCATION

Late last year Realms of Inquiry was sold to a church group.  We have been unable to reach them to discuss continuing our meetings there, but in the process of looking for a new place, the Tracy Aviary has offered their “Education Room” as a permanent home.  We still feel the Aviary is walkable for most, especially when the weather warms and the days are longer.  The meeting location is in the brand new Visitors Center building just opened.  There are instructions on the agenda as to how to access the parking, and there will be signs there.  We are so grateful to the Aviary, plus it is a great time to see what has been done there.

Lastly, the ELPCO Board has begun discussions with our neighbors in East and West Emerson, Gilmer Park and Historic Gilmer Park about the possibility of creating a larger community council.  We have invited the residents of these areas to attend our meeting (actually, any resident of planet earth is free to join us!) and will have a brief discussion about what benefits there might be and what if any drawbacks may exist.  The overall geography is roughly boundaried by 800 South, 1700 South, 700 East and 1300 East.  This area has similar zoning, architecture, etc. but contains all of the diversity of ELPCO as it currently exists.

We hope to see all of you this Thursday.
